Our story

Our manufacturing plant
Tau Group's Pianezza Plant serves as both the group’s headquarters and a state-of-the-art facility for the development, validation, and production of high-performance, solvent-free magnet wire with the lowest carbon footprint. This cutting-edge plant operates as an R&D hub, driving innovation in magnet wire technologies and the continuous advancement of DryCycle processes.
As a key platform for the industrialization of magnet wire, the Pianezza Plant is certified to ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, and ISO 14001:2015 standards, reflecting its commitment to quality, sustainability, and operational excellence.
2024
EXECUTION
The company’s growth led to its relocation to the Pianezza production facility, just outside Turin, where the new facility recieved ISO 14001 and IATF 16949:2016 certifications. Tau also secured a Series B2 investment round, led by CDP Venture Capital and Santander, and signed a €20 million venture debt agreement with the European Investment Bank. These developments reinforced Tau’s ability to drive R&D and scale-up production, ensuring a robust foundation for future innovation and expansion.
2023
Progress
Tau’s progress continued with the successful closure of a Series B1 funding round, led by Syensqo (Solvay). This funding facilitated significant operational advancements and led to the certification of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001, aligning with the company’s unwavering commitment to environmental management and operational excellence.
2022
Momentum
In 2022, Tau experienced a transformative year. The company completed its first IFRS audit and demonstrated the viability of its technology by producing a functioning automotive motor stator using Tau wire. This year also saw the commencement of operations at its first industrial plant in Turin, Italy, marking the transition to full-scale industrial capability.
2021
Development
Independent testing validated Tau’s automotive wire performance, and the company achieved ISO 9001 certification for its Turin facility. During this period, Tau also achieved a major milestone by capturing 10% of the global champagne cork market with its steel wire production.
2020
Investments
Tau formed a pivotal partnership with Altana and Finindus, successfully completing a Series A funding round. This partnership also initiated a preferential chemistry supply agreement, further solidifying the company’s growth trajectory.
2017
1st Scale-up
A major milestone in Tau’s early development came with the delivery of its first DryCycle steel wire production line to a production partner. This marked a significant step forward, transitioning the company from concept to scalable production.
2015
Investments
Recognizing its immense potential, the company secured its first angel investment, which enabled the team to develop a functional technology demonstrator and prove the feasibility of their pioneering ideas.
2014
Innovation
Tau Group's journey began with the invention of its revolutionary DryCycle technology by Francesco, Filippo, and Piero. Designed to transform the magnet wire industry, this breakthrough technology laid the foundation for the company's innovative approach to sustainability and efficiency.
